This was a winter afternoon in Bollington, Cheshire. I'd had a lovely walk round the town and was just heading back to my car when I noticed the vibrant colours of these rooftops against the dark blues of the shadows. It really made me want to capture it in paint. The figures are a bit of artistic licence. Bollington was famous in 1800's for cotton spinning and had a number of mills, some of which remain. It's most famous feature is the 'White Nancy' a 6m high white painted obelisk on Kerridge Hill built to commemorate the battle of Waterloo. Hoping to include this in a painting oneday.
14x16" oil on canvas, unframed.
